Thai soldier killed in renewed fighting on Cambodian border

 A Thai soldier was killed and four were wounded Saturday as Thai and Cambodian forces clashed for a second day in a disputed border area near an 11th-century Hindu temple.
Thai army spokesman Colonel Sansern Kaewkamnert said the fighting broke out at 6:15 am (2315 GMT Friday) near the Preah Vihear temple on the border between Thailand's Si Sa Ket province and Cambodia's Preah Vihear province.
On Friday, a Thai villager was killed and 15 Thai soldiers wounded in an exchange of artillery and small arms fire near the temple.
A Cambodian soldier was also reported killed, and several homes were damaged on the Thai side.//DPA

Red shirts to rally on same day with yellow shirts on Jan 25
Red-shirt leader Somyos Preuksakasemsuk announced Friday that his group would rally on the same day with the mass rally of the yellow-shirt movement on Tuesday.
Somyos said his June 24 for Democracy group would rally at the Democracy Monument from 7 pm to midnight.
The
People's Alliance for Democracy will hold a mass rally at the Makkhawan Bridge that day. PAD leaders vowed to prolong their rally until their demands are met.
The
PAD wants the government to cancel the 2000 memorandum of understanding on framework to settle border dispute; to withdraw as a member of the World Heritage Committee and to expel all Cambodians from Thailand.

CentralWorld remains open to shoppers despite red-shirt rally

The management of CentralWorld announced at 11:45 am Sunday that the shopping mall will not be closed when the red-shirt demonstrators gather there in the afternoon.
By noon, many red-shirt protesters have already gathered at the Rajprasong Intersection.
The will rally there from 1 pm to 3 pm before marching to the Democracy Monument.
